Edge of the City

Once a promising detective in the NYPD, Brian McKenna is enjoying early retirement in Ft. Myers, Florida. He lives there under an assumed name; the conclusion of his career-ending previous case has made that necessary. With his newly pregnant wife, Angelita, McKenna relaxes into married life, plays golf, contemplates sunsets ... and feels a little bored.

All that changes when the son of New York City Police Commissioner Ray Brunette is killed in a shootout. Aching for Brunette, his closest friend, McKenna and Angelita fly back for the funeral, only to find themselves trapped in the middle of a deadly confrontation. A highly trained, ruthless cadre of soldiers now occupies the access points to the city. Under the command of Felipe and Elena, two of the world's most-feared terrorists, this small army plans to shut down New York for five days. But that is only the beginning of an explosive master plan, and it's McKenna's job to learn the rest - even if he has to break some rules along the way.
